New Europeans UK 'EU Rights and Wrongs' Conference - May 24th 2024
Northern Ireland is now home to one of the largest populations of disenfranchised EU citizens. To highlight this issue Emma featured as a guest speaker and panellist for the 'EU Rights and Wrongs' conference, organised by New Europeans UK, at Northern Ireland's Stormont buildings.
The event focused on the complexity of Northern Ireland losing its voice in Europe, the importance of citizenship and voting rights, and the benefits of European Union citizenship. Emma focused on the link between citizenship and voting rights, the political context that has created a democratic deficit in Northern Ireland, and legislative solutions to give voice to the people of Northern Ireland.
